Introducing The Vintage List 2.0!

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be able to officially reveal what I've been working on the last few weeks - what I am affectionately calling The Vintage List 2.0! If you've been around the blog (or Facebook or Twitter) lately, you may have noticed the new look - and my new spokesmodel, isn't she adorable?!?! - but the changes are much more than just new window dressing...

When I launched The Vintage List back in 2008, social media was still in its infancy, so the main way people found new sites to visit was usually via blogs or directory websites. I jumped in and created both. This combination worked well for a while, but as social media has grown, the use of directory sites has diminished - and due to the static nature of a directory site, traffic has stayed flat, while traffic to the more dynamic blog - and to our social media sites - has grown.

After mulling this over for a while, I decided the best thing to do would be to have the blog and the directory live together on the same site. I looked into various options, and then it hit me like a ton of bricks - why not just move the directory to the blog? It is already established, and Blogger has the Pages feature now (another thing that didn't exist back in 2008!), which makes it possible to re-create the directory as part of the blog itself. So, if you have a look over to the left, you will see links to the new directory pages, right here on the blog!

This change also allows me to offer a few extra perks for members - I can include logos on listings now, which I couldn't do on the old site, and I can also include more than one URL per listing, which wasn't possible before. I've revised the membership plans a bit to reflect these new options - just visit the How To Add Your Listing page to get all of the details.

A while back I opened up the blog for all members to post on - quite a few have taken me up on the offer, and hopefully more will be doing so in the future. Now that the directory pages are actually on the blog itself, it is an even more effective tool to help get the word out about the List and its members! I am planning on doing more posts myself, including reviving the Flipping Vintage series, and the What's Hot from Member Shops posts. I'm hoping that over the course of the year the blog will really hit its stride, to the benefit of all members of the List, as well as to its readers!

I'll be back later today with a GREAT giveaway to celebrate the official launch of The Vintage List 2.0 - so stay tuned! :)
